The FACEIT Overlay is a small box with your FACEIT numbers that sits on top of your stream: your name, your level badge, your ELO, how the current session is going and how your last five matches ended. You add it to OBS once as a browser source, and from then on it keeps itself up to date while you play. In your FACEITSync dashboard it is listed as Standard overlay.
Set it up in five steps
Work through them in order. Step 1 does not happen on the overlay page at all, which is why it is the one people miss: without a linked FACEIT account there are no numbers to show, and the source in OBS stays empty however correctly the rest is done.
- Link your FACEIT account. If it is missing, a yellow bar sits at the top of every dashboard page with a Connect FACEIT button. One click and you are back where you were.
- Open the page. In your dashboard, open the Overlays group in the left sidebar and click Standard overlay.
- Copy your URL. It sits in the highlighted box under the preview. Use the Copy button instead of selecting the text by hand. The URL is created the moment you first open this page, so a new account gets one just by looking at it.
- Add the browser source in OBS. Select your scene, click the plus under Sources, choose Browser, name it (for example FACEIT Stats), paste the URL into the URL field and set the width to
600and the height to300. Confirm with OK. - Look at it. The box appears after a few seconds. Its background is fully transparent, so you can drag it straight over your gameplay. If it stays empty, jump to When the overlay stays empty below.
There is nothing to switch on and nothing else to configure in OBS: no custom CSS, no extra plugin, no second source.
What is on screen
AVG is your average kills per match, ADR the average damage per round, K/R your kills per round and HS% the share of headshots. All six are worked out over your last 20 matches, so one bad game nudges them instead of wrecking them.
What the session number counts
The figure next to your ELO is your current session, not the calendar day. A session ends after a break of six hours without a match, and the next match opens a new one. While your Twitch stream is running, the stream itself holds the session open, so a long break inside one stream does not split your evening in two.
When the overlay switches by itself
- While a Twitch prediction is running the box shows the prediction instead of your stats: the question, the time left and both outcomes with their current share. When it ends, your stats come back on their own.
- During your season placements it shows the placement tracker: the unranked badge, your counter (for example
4/10), a win and loss bar and your placement stats. Ten is the normal number of placement matches for a season, and after the last one the usual view returns by itself.
If you are on Premium with a saved Overlay Generator design, the placement tracker takes over for that period and your design comes back once the placements are done.
How current the numbers are
Updates are pushed. When a match of yours finishes, the overlay is told and fetches the new ELO, result and session figure straight away. Nothing has to be refreshed during a stream.
Behind that push sits a safety net: even with the connection open, the overlay re-reads everything every 60 seconds, so a single lost message repairs itself instead of freezing your numbers for the evening. If the connection drops, for example because OBS reloaded the scene, the overlay carries on reading every 30 seconds by itself. While a Twitch prediction is running it reads every 3 seconds, connection or no connection.
It also updates itself: once a minute it checks whether a newer version has been published and reloads quietly. You never need to re-add the source after we ship an improvement.
Which name is displayed
Under Name mode on the same page you decide what stands above your ELO: your Twitch display name, your FACEIT nickname, or a name you type yourself. Your own name may be at most 13 characters. A name that is longer, empty, or contains a word from our block list is refused, and the page asks for a different one.
This setting is the one exception to how the rest of the dashboard behaves: it has a Save settings button underneath, and the new name only reaches your overlay once you press it.
Which language the overlay is in
The overlay speaks the language set in your FACEITSync account settings. If you never chose one, it is derived from your country, with English as the last fallback. It does not follow the language your browser happens to be in.
Your overlay URL
Your URL looks like faceitsync.com/overlay/u/12345/your-token. The long part at the end is a private token of 64 characters. Treat it like a password: never on stream, never in a screenshot of your OBS settings.
The token also gives your overlay a request budget of its own, enough for a dozen browser sources at once. Without it the overlay shares one budget with everyone on the same internet connection instead of having its own.
If your token has ever been on screen, you can have it renewed. The button is not on this page: it sits on the Lobby Teams Overlay page as Regenerate token, belongs to Premium, and only the account owner can press it: a Twitch moderator with dashboard access deliberately cannot, because it would black out both OBS sources mid stream. It is one token for both overlays, so renewing it changes this URL and the Lobby Teams URL at the same moment and both browser sources have to be updated.
An outdated URL does not leave you with a black hole: if the token no longer matches, FACEITSync renders the public version of your overlay rather than nothing, so your stream keeps showing stats. An overlay that suddenly looks plainer than it used to is one sign of it, so copy the URL your dashboard shows now. Premium running out produces the same look: a saved Overlay Generator design falls back to this standard view.
Changing the look
The design is fixed: you pick the name and the size of the source, everything else is set. Choosing the shape, the colours, the fonts and which values appear is what the Overlay Generator does, and that belongs to Premium.
When the overlay stays empty
Work down this list in order. Almost every case is one of the first three.
- Is your FACEIT account linked? Open your dashboard and look for the yellow bar at the top. With no linked account there is nothing for the overlay to draw.
- Is it really the URL from your dashboard? It has to contain
/overlay/u/followed by your number and the long token. A URL typed by hand or copied from anywhere else will not show your data. Copy it again with the Copy button. - Can you actually see the source? Set it to
600by300, check that its eye is not switched off, and remember that OBS draws the source list from the top down: a source above this one covers it. The overlay also stays invisible until its first data arrives, so a few empty seconds after a scene change are normal, a whole minute is not. - Are the numbers frozen after a match? Wait 60 seconds, that is when the overlay re-reads everything by itself. If it is still stuck, right click the source in OBS and choose Refresh.
- Did both of your overlays go plain at once? Then the token was renewed on the Lobby Teams Overlay page. Copy both URLs again, the new one for this overlay and the new one for the teams overlay.
- Is a scene reloading over and over? The overlay page may be opened up to 50 times a minute per channel. Normal streaming never gets near that, but a source stuck in a reload loop does, and it then gets a short wait message instead of your stats.
FAQ
Does this cost anything? No. The overlay is included on every plan. Premium adds the Overlay Generator and the Lobby Teams Overlay on top of it.
Does it work outside OBS? Yes, in anything with a browser source: Streamlabs as a Browser Source, XSplit as a Webpage Source, vMix as a Web Browser input.
Why does my ELO look missing right after a season starts? Because you are in your placement matches. The overlay shows the placement tracker until they are finished, then it switches back on its own.
Is there a save button? Only for the name setting. Everything else takes effect straight away.
