Streaming Without Connect: Switching OBS Back to Twitch

Instant Delay 4 min read Updated Oct 4, 2026

Available in: Free, for everyone. Switching back needs neither a FACEITSync account nor Premium, and it works while Connect is closed or already uninstalled.

With Instant Delay, OBS does not send your stream to Twitch itself. It sends it to FACEITSync Connect on the same PC, to an address that starts with rtmp://127.0.0.1, and Connect passes it on to Twitch. As long as OBS points there, it can only stream while Connect is running. Switching back takes one setting in your streaming program, and your stream key stays the same.

Is Connect just closed? Then you do not have to change anything. Start FACEITSync Connect, wait until its icon appears in the system tray, and click Start Streaming in OBS again.

OBS Studio 30.2 and newer

  1. Open the stream settings. In OBS, click Settings, then Stream.
  2. Leave the service as it is. The Service stays Twitch, and your connected account and your stream key stay as they are.
  3. Set the server back. In the Server list, pick Auto (Recommended) instead of Specify Custom Server.... The field with the Connect address disappears.
  4. Save and go live. Click Apply, then OK. The next click on Start Streaming goes straight to Twitch.

OBS Studio 28 to 30.1

These versions reach Connect through the service Custom..., so Twitch has to be picked as the service again.

  1. Pick Twitch. Open Settings, then Stream, and set the Service to Twitch.
  2. Sign in or paste the key. Click Connect Account (recommended) and sign in with Twitch, or choose Use Stream Key and paste the primary stream key from the Twitch Creator Dashboard.
  3. Set the server. Under Server, pick Auto (Recommended) and click Apply.

Several OBS profiles

OBS keeps the stream settings per profile. If more than one profile streams through Connect, switch to each of them under Profile in the menu bar and repeat the steps there.

Streamlabs Desktop

  1. Open the stream settings. Click the gear icon for Settings, then Stream.
  2. Go back to the recommended settings. Click Use recommended settings. Streamlabs then fetches your Twitch key before every stream by itself again, as it did before Instant Delay.
  3. Sign in if asked. If Streamlabs asks for it, sign in with Twitch once more, then go live as usual.

Other programs

Meld Studio, XSplit, vMix and every other program with its own server field: replace the Connect address with a Twitch server. If the program offers Twitch in a list, pick it there. If it only has a server field, rtmp://ingest.global-contribute.live-video.net/app is the default address of Twitch, and Twitch names the server recommended for you on its page of recommended servers. The stream key does not change.

Check that it worked

Click Start Streaming. If your channel goes live on Twitch while Connect is closed, OBS streams directly again. If OBS still reports Failed to connect to server, the Connect address is still set in the profile or program you streamed from.

Using Instant Delay again later

Going back to Connect works the same way, only the other way round. In FACEITSync Connect, click Sniper protection in the left sidebar, then Instant Delay: under Setup, Connect takes you through the settings for your program step by step.

FAQ

Does my stream key change? No. Twitch keeps the same key. Connect never stored it: it stays in your streaming program.

Do I have to change anything at Twitch? No. Disconnect protection and all other channel settings can stay as they are.

What happens to my delay values? Nothing. Your values under Settings, then Stream delay, stay and still decide when your predictions are resolved.

Does this end Premium? No. You only change where OBS sends your stream. Your plan stays as it is.

I stream from a second PC. Change the setting on the PC where OBS runs.
