Smart Ads

Smart Ads is a Premium FACEITSync feature that helps streamers maximize Twitch ad revenue while keeping viewers. When a Twitch Prediction starts (just before a FACEIT match), FACEITSync automatically runs a short ad break. Running ads at that moment disables Twitch pre-roll ads for the upcoming match and pauses automatic mid-rolls during that window, so new viewers see gameplay immediately instead of an ad, and ads never interrupt the action. You choose the ad break length from 30 to 180 seconds; a 60 second break disables pre-rolls for roughly 20 minutes, and 120 seconds is recommended to cover a full match. This improves viewer retention and stabilizes ad income. Smart Ads is Premium only and needs Twitch Affiliate or Partner status.

Smart Ads helps streamers earn more from Twitch ads without losing viewers. It moves your ads to the best possible moment - just before a FACEIT match - so ads never interrupt gameplay and new viewers are not greeted by a pre-roll.

The problem with pre-roll ads

  • Pre-rolls play automatically when new viewers join your stream.
  • New viewers often leave before they ever see your gameplay.
  • You normally have no control over when they trigger.

How Smart Ads works

When a Twitch Prediction starts (typically right before a FACEIT match begins), FACEITSync automatically runs a short ad break. Running that ad break has two effects:

  • Pre-roll ads are disabled for the upcoming match, so new viewers see gameplay immediately.
  • Automatic mid-rolls are paused during that window, so ads do not interrupt the action.

The ads run before the match, not in the middle of a round, and it happens automatically with no manual interaction.

Choosing your ad break length

You pick the ad break length from 30 to 180 seconds. The longer the break, the longer pre-rolls stay disabled:

  • A 60 second break disables pre-rolls for roughly 20 minutes.
  • 120 seconds is the recommended setting, because a FACEIT match usually lasts about 40 minutes, so it covers most of the match.

The exact pre-roll disable duration is controlled by Twitch and can vary, so these are practical guidelines. Smart Ads does not increase your total ad volume - it schedules the ads you already run into a better moment.

Ads reach your active audience through planned slots instead of scaring off new viewers, which improves retention and stabilizes your ad income. For many streamers this also helps toward Twitch Partnership.

Coming soon: shorter, smarter breaks with GSI

A planned upgrade will use Game State Integration (GSI) to run shorter ad breaks more often at natural pauses in the game, instead of one longer break. This is intended to reduce disruption further while keeping ad revenue stable. This GSI improvement is planned and not yet available.

How to enable

  1. Open Dashboard, then Smart Ads.
  2. Turn on the automatic ad break when a Prediction starts.
  3. Choose your ad break length (120 seconds recommended).
  4. Save your settings.
